Harol launches VR150 Blackout, a surface-mounted roller shutter that ensures maximum blackout

Belgian roller shutter pioneers Harol are introducing the surface-mounted roller shutter VR150 Blackout: the most effective blackout solution on the market. This revolutionary product is both suited for private homes and hotels, residential care facilities and apartments. Harol developed the roller shutter specifically for people who work in shifts, who are very sensitive to light or simply prefer a room to be optimally darkened.

For the longest time, roller shutters have been a clever and sustainable way to keep rooms dark and cool. What is not so well-known is the fact that even the best models can still let in a minimum of light through the guides, the roller shutter box or the bottom lath. Thanks to innovative technologies, Harol has now devised a definitive solution to this problem.

Innovation in blackout technology

The new model, the VR150 Blackout roller shutter, is fitted with a sealing strip along the full width of the roller shutter box, preventing any daylight from entering. In addition, the roller shutter comes with a carefully designed black insert in the guide profile, acting as a dark room within the profile and preventing any form of light reflection.

This innovative design is further enhanced by a durable black brush with a central fin in the side guides, which retains its light-blocking function even after years of use. To ensure optimal blackout, an additional black brush in the bottom lath ensures no light can enter under the roller shutter, keeping the room dark.

Quiet and comfort: more than just blackout

The VR150 Blackout roller shutter not only offers maximum blackout but also improves both thermal and acoustic insulation, resulting in a comfortable and quiet sleep environment. The shutter considerably reduces street noise, allowing the residents to benefit from a serene and restful atmosphere. What’s more, the shutter is fitted as standard with I/O control, making it easy to integrate in a building automation system, contributing to ease of use and efficiency.

The VR150 Blackout roller shutter is designed for long-term use and has been tested on no fewer than 10,000 cycles, guaranteeing many years of reliable operation. This roller shutter is suitable for building projects of all types, including passive construction and renovations, and it can be installed both on the surface and in the recess. Customers have a choice of different roller shutter box types (bevelled, square, round) in all RAL colours and textured paints, as well as slats in Alu39 and Alu42 so the roller shutter fits in perfectly with the style of their home or building.

The maximum dimensions are 4.2 metres in width, 3 metres in height and 11m² in surface area.
